Eight firms have been appointed by Southern Water to deliver upgrades across its infrastructure network.

The rate at which construction firms are going bust has slowed, according to official figures.

Data from the Insolvency Service reveals that 4,303 firms went under in the year to July – the lowest rolling annual total since 2020. Construction still accounted for 16.9 per cent of all insolvencies in England and Wales in July – a month in which the total of 397 insolvency registrations was the largest of any sector.
